Ash Wednesday Practice I February 14th, at your own time and pace
From Vibrant Church Communications, the Daily Examen:
This prayer technique was developed by St. Ignatius Loyola over 400 years ago. At the end of the day, use these five steps to review your day and prepare for the next.
1. Become aware of God’s presence.
2. Review the day with gratitude.
3. Pay attention to your emotions.
4. Choose one feature of the day and pray from it.
5. Look toward tomorrow.
Lenten Micropractices
This year, we will be exploring Lenten Micropractices from Vibrant Church Communications. These are small spiritual practices based on traditional Lenten practices of praying, fasting, and almsgiving – with some other practices thrown in.
Lent in a Bag!
On Sunday, Feb. 11 you can pick up “Lent in a Bag”, which will have some supplies and a booklet of the daily prompts. There are some younger-person friendly activities in this bag, but it could be picked up by anyone!
Adult Ed – Practical Prayers
The Adult Ed class will be looking at the practice of prayer through the season of Lent. Often in Lent we will give up or take on something that helps us enliven our spiritual life. This year, we’ll take a journey through some really practical ways of praying by using Sacred Calls’ video/discussion series “Practical Prayers: A Guide to Praying Without Ceasing.”

Guest Preaching in the Season of Lent
Join us for a stellar lineup of guest preachers, and to welcome our new Bridge Pastor, Rev. Dr. Stacy Smith! We are in a time of transition here at First Pres, and in times of transition it can be important to ground ourselves in our faith. During this Lenten season we will be doing this grounding work through spiritual practices.
