At First Pres, we seek to foster the individual passions and talents of our community and work together to bring about positive change for the world.
Our current work is focused on education and advocacy for incarceration and re-entry reform, LGBTQIA equality, justice for immigrants, including refugees and the undocumented, elimination of food insecurity, and housing the homeless. Additionally, we support the national and international justice initiatives of the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship, the Presbyterian Church (USA) Office of Public Witness, and mission co-workers in Indonesia, Cost Rica and South Sudan. See below for more information on our partners in these areas of work.
Join us in endeavoring to heed the call of the prophet Micah – to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with God. Check out the list of Upcoming Mission Activities below and see how you can get involved in this important work too!
As a Sanctuary Church, we partner with neighboring houses of worship in Connecticut and local immigrant community groups in the work of immigrant justice. One of our closest partners in this work is Unidad Latina en Action (ULA).
If you’re interested in learning more about how we can support our immigrant neighbors, please sign up to attend an ULA meeting on Monday nights.
The meetings are held at 7:00pm at the The New Haven People’s Center, 37 Howe Street.
