Fresh Local Produce for the CCA Food Pantry

FPC delivers fresh locally grown produce to CCA each week during the growing season.

This year, we are asking one volunteer each week to purchase up to $40 in fresh produce at a local farmers’ market and deliver it as early in the week as possible to CCA at 168 Davenport Ave., New Haven.

CCA appreciates whatever is fresh and in season and they very much appreciate receiving it early in the week.  Suggestions include collards, Swiss chard, bok choy (and other greens), broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, tomatoes, apples etc., but choose whatever looks best to you.

In the first week, our volunteer shopped at the Wooster Square farmers’ market on Saturday and delivered the produce (after refrigerating it) Monday morning.  We purchased Swiss chard, collards and snap peas.

You could shop at a local farmers’ market or a local farm market.  You can deliver the produce to CCA anytime Monday through Thursday between 9:30 AM-3:30 PM.  Delivering it the same day it is purchased is best if that is possible.

If you would like to volunteer, email mission@fpcnh.org and we will email you a link to the volunteer form that will allow you to select the week(s) you are available.

For more information, see the Mission Committee Produce Purchase flyer at bit.ly/fpc-cca or email questions to mission@fpcnh.org.
