March 22, 6:30 p.m.: Prison State (2014), one of two Frontline documentaries about prisons, takes an intimate look at the cycle of mass incarceration in America.
It follows four residents, two teenagers and two adults, of a single housing project in Louisville as they go in and out of jail.
The documentary is particularly moving in the intimacy of its portrayal of these four people. And it shows how the state of Kentucky is implementing new measures with the goal of reducing recidivism.
The film is timely viewing, given Gov. Malloy’s announcement of a Second-Chance Society policy for Connecticut.
