The theme for the 2011 Peacemaking Offering is “A harvest of justice is sown in peace” (James 3:18). This offering, begun in 1980, was created to support the efforts of the PC (USA) to live out a deeper commitment to peacemaking as part of our faithfulness to God.
Our God grants us peace and wholeness but calls us Christians to address the root causes of injustice in its many forms. We can mend the brokenness that exists in our conflict-ridden world. Peacemaking is the human response to God’s gift of peace giving.
Our own church’s Peace and Justice Group has started to respond to this issue and welcomes your input. This year as we receive the Peacemaking Offering on World Communion Sunday, October 2nd, we will support the Forman Christian College in Pakistan, started by Rev. Chuck Forman’s grandfather in the 19th century. Please give generously and pray for peace.
