Ralph Jones, Mary Hunt and Art Hunt attended the CPJ and EAD conferences in Washington, DC from April 21-April 24.
The CPJ training and the EAD conference combined inspirational speakers with practical training on a variety of organizing and social justices issues. This year’s theme was “Confronting Chaos, Forging Community: Challenging Racism, Materialism and Militarism.” The conference was also a remembrance that 50 years after his speech on Vietnam at Riverside Church, Dr. Marin Luther King’s dream of eliminating militarism, racism and materialism – “the giant triplets of chaos” – remains our dream, our aspiration and our motivation.

Several books about Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, are available from the book cart, as is a copy of a newly published article by Bernie, “Traditional, Islamic and National Law in the Experience of Indonesian Muslim Women.”
Come find out what Presbyterians are doing in this part of the Muslim world.… Continue

That day many Muslims gathered to say extra “solar eclipse prayers.” Hindus carried out rituals to ensure that the sun would come back and Christians gathered to pray.… Continue

Presbyterian Church (USA) Mission Co-worker
Dear companions in mission,
October is upon us. We here at the Latin American Biblical University (UBL) are looking toward the end of our academic year, but there is still lots to do. We are excited about the possibilities the future offers for reaching more students throughout Latin America, though we still don’t know from where all of the resources will come to make it happen.… Continue
The Rev. Dr. Karla Ann Koll was our guest preacher June 28th. She has been a PC(USA) mission coworker since 1986, and FPCNH has been supporting her work for about half that time. Currently she teaches at the Universidad Bíblica Latinoamericana in San José, Costa Rica. Her students come from a number of different Latin American countries, and range from Pentecostal to Roman Catholic in background.
After coffee hour, Karla spoke to a group of about twenty. She began by talking about the current shortfall in Presbyterian World Mission funding, which will result in the termination of eleven mission co-workers by December 31 of this year.… Continue
