Eleven youngsters are now engaged in learning more about the Biblical story and their own as they continue their journeys of faith.

This fall the class will meet on Sunday October 2 and Sunday, October 30, and November 13 and 27.

The class will look at the history and tradition of the church, and discuss the ways Christians talk about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the mission of the Church. Co-Pastors Bill Goettler and Maria LaSala are teaching this great group of young people, all who are known and loved by this congregation.

Sunday School Teachers are all set for the church school year. Teaching our children and youth this year are:

Pre-school and 5 year olds: Sue Balakrishnan and Elizabeth Gill

1st and 2nd grade class: Melissa Socolow

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade class: Betty Whitney, with occasional help from Betsy Mussmann

Middle School youth: Gary Cline and Taylor Purvis, who graduates from Yale this May, will return as the dynamic duo for our

Senior High youth: Candice Gray will lead our  on their faith journey.

These devoted, consistent, and wonderful volunteers make our Christian Education program happen week after week, bringing delight and joy and the promise of the Gospel to our children and youth.

This year we thank: Elizabeth Gill and Sue Balakrishnan who taught our Pre-school class; Melissa Socolow and Betty Whitney who taught our K-2 class; Martha Smalley who taught our 3-5 graders; Gary Cline and Taylor Purvis who taught a very enthusiastic Middle School class – the largest class ever!, and Candice Gray and Hannah Roh for teaching our high schoolers.

Thanks too, to Micah Luce who joined Nancy McLaren as youth group advisor this year.

We thank you, the children and youth thank you, for sharing your gifts of time and talent with us this year.

The End of Church Year Celebration and Puppet Show will take place on Sunday, June 5 at 9:30 a.m. This is the last day for Sunday School.

Join us to celebrate all the youngsters, thank the teachers, and rejoice in the wonder of learning and growing in faith.

As the 125th anniversary of the church draws near, so too does the Children in Worship group’s completion of a special ‘building’ project. In preparation for this special anniversary celebration, the children of our congregation have worked on artistic representations of the church buildings that have housed the First Presbyterian Church over the years. The project will be on display in the Miller Gathering Hall on February 20th. Come and see the wonderful work of our children and the Children in Worship volunteers!
