Much of the work of the church happens through committees. The standing committees of Session are listed below, with chairs or other Elders who are involved. The membership for all of these committees is open, and all committees welcome your participation. To learn more, talk with one of the Elders, or with either of the pastors.
The Christian Education Committee leads our ministries of learning with children, youth and adults. Sunday School and the Children’s Worship Time, the children’s and youth choirs, as well as the middle school and senior youth groups are resourced by this committee. The Sunday morning adult education program also falls under this group’s planning.

Friendship Hour is a welcoming time of fellowship and socializing where we have a chance to catch up with church friends, and greet and get to know visitors and new attendees. Volunteers set up the serving tables and lay out treats and drinks. At the end of the friendship hour, these volunteers put everything away and clean up.
The Finance Committee oversees the financial affairs of the congregation, looking after the weekly offering gifts, faithfully tracking the gifts of individual members, paying all of the church’s bills, and creating accessible financial statements regularly.

First Presbyterian has no real endowment. Instead, we are a people who support this ministry each year through our gifts. The Stewardship Committee invites those gifts, and encourages our financial and personal commitment to the work of Christ in this world, year round.
